Wind power, a near total bust

Not only is it proving to be an environmental blight and fundamentally uneconomic ...

... but new research shows that wind farms may be causing significant direct atmospheric warming:
Researchers at the State University of New York at Albany analysed the satellite data of areas around large wind farms in Texas, where four of the world's largest farms are located, over the period 2003 to 2011.

... The results, published in the journal Nature Climate Change, showed a warming trend of up to 0.72 degrees Celsius per decade in areas over the farms, compared with nearby regions without the farms.
This could be a big factor in finally getting AGW fanatics and other environmental freaks to abandon wind power.

In environmentalists' favourite jargon, wind power is, on every level, unsustainable!

Two sites that show power being generated and how little is generated by wind.

Tee last one shows the hypocrisy of the eco freaks.

250 tons of steel?
I doubt that.

Bird choppers are a joke, but I work around large mining equipment all the time, and 250 tons is a LOT.

p'doff,
Thanks for the links. When I checked, wind output was running at less than 20% of capacity.

Anon,
A 2 MW wind turbine is massive. The tower and turbine contain a LOT of steel. Here's an example of a 3 MW machine 90 meters high that comes in at 600 tons total weight:
